Destination Wedding Photographer | Sophia Sneak Peek!

As we were  downloading cards from our amazing trip to photograph Sophia and Sonney’s wedding in the gorgeous resort town of Cancun, we just had to share one image that maybe our favorite from their multi-day extravaganza.  Seriously with a bride this stunning and locations so gorgeous, we’d have to be trying really hard to mess up a photo!  When we blog this wedding I don’t know how we’re going to choose what we put up!

Sophia you are amazing!!

Vancouver Wedding Photographer | Sonney + Sophia

So in 2 weeks, we’ll be on our way to Mexico to shoot Sonney and Sophia’s wedding and we are beyond excited. BUT, before we are whisked away to humidity and sandcastles, we had the privilege of taking a few hours to celebrate in their engagement party…just wanted to share some quick snaps that I thought were fun towards the end of the night!

Once again, I had to do everything to contain Naomi from dancing, as our babysitter was waiting to be relieved…AND since Naomi has actually learned some real Indian dances…no I’m not joking (I LOVE MY WIFE!) Needless to say, when we’re off the clock in Mexico Naomi will be shredding some serious rug!

Vancouver Wedding Videographer | Linnie + Nicolas

You know when you get an email from someone and it’s all !!!!!!!!!!! after every sentence, and you think, they’re just excitable typers? Well let me tell you, when I got an email from Linnie, that was what her email was like.  To be totally honest I thought her email was a little over the top with the !!!!! HOWEVER when we actually talked to Linnie on the phone and once we met her in person ………. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! x a million could not express how happy, excited and wonderful Linnie is.  She may be the most excited bride I have ever met, and not just cause she’s getting married, but that’s because who she is!

Let me tell you a little about Nicolas, he is reserved, chill, and calm …. and yet, these two seem to fit together so perfectly.  I love it when life works that way!

Linnie and Nicolas were planning on getting hitched just by themselves, them, the commissioner and the birds.  But, when Linnie’s sister and best friend (and son who ended up being ring barer), along with Nicolas’ brother found out, they were none to pleased and made sure to invite themselves to this small intimate affair at the Stanley Park Lighthouse.  It was one of the most amazing weddings we’ve got to be a part of.  Not only because of these guys, but because they treated us as if we were the best of friends with them, even sharing in a late lunch together as their “reception” at the Tea House.

We were so honored to share in their day, and to capture these two love birds, who clearly can’t get enough of each other.

Whistler Wedding Videographer | Mandy + Brendan

Whistler, winter, snow and a hot couple what more could you want?  For some reason many people think winter weddings are crazy, but we love them, especially ones up in Whistler.  What a gorgeous backdrop to have a wedding at.  Mandy and Brendan were such an amazing couple to share the day with.  They were up for anything, they were fun, their bridal party were ready to freeze their buns off for them, and I say that makes for an exciting day!

These two made life easy for us the day of, they had a plan, they knew what they wanted, and they made it happen.  Destination weddings can sometimes be a little stressful for our couples, but these two made it look easy (well they made it look that way haha).  From all the little details at their ceremony, to their amazing desert/candy table they thought of how to make their guest comfortable, have fun, and facilitate a great night for everyone to enjoy!  Thanks so much for letting us be apart of your day guys, it was GRRRRRRREAT!

We spent our time at Nita Lake Lodge and we got to work with the awesome duo of Dan and Kat from StonePhoto….love those guys!

Best Wedding Invitation EVER!

This past month my best friend Kyle Stewart married the very lovely and equally awesome Danielle Winsor.  I’ve been wanting to blog their invitations for awhile, but for some WEIRD reason Kyle wanted to wait till after the wedding, geeze…selfish much!  When Naomi and I got their invitations we were in awe at how creative, unique and original they were.  We see A LOT of wedding invitations and programs in our line of business and these have been the best so far!  We thought we would share them as an inspiration to future brides and grooms that you can be unconventional in your wedding invites and be totally awesome at the same time! Don’t feel like you need to have the same ol’ same ol’ thing that everyone else has, step up and make something different, you know you want to!  Feel free to share the amazing-ness!

Vancouver Wedding Videographer | Terry + Jeff

Let us tell you a story.  On a rainy Vancouver day a girl was going to marry the boy of her dreams.   She had waited a long time for this day and all she wanted was to celebrate with her friends and family on a beautiful SUNNY Vancouver day.  All morning the girl looked out the window waiting for the sun to peak through the clouds, all morning she hoped for the boy to come get her.  Rain dripping off trees, the boy arrived in style, hoping to bring some cheer and love to the girls day!  He knocked on the door to meet his bride, and as if the sun was waiting for the two to finally see each other, the clouds parted and the day warmed up.

Cheesy, we hope so, cause that’s exactly what happened on Jeff and Terry’s wedding.  All morning the rain would not stop, but just as if it was supposed to happen, when Jeff arrived to Terry’s house it started to ease off, and by the time the ceremony was over, you would have never thought it had rained that morning!  It was amazing.

We’ve been so blessed with so many amazing couples this past year, and Jeff and Terry were no exception.  These two, along with their bridal party, had us smiling and laughing all day.  Thank you so much for letting us be apart of your day!

Okanagan/Vancouver Wedding Videographer | Manjinder + Patrice

I am always amazed how life has a funny ways of coming around.  How in just a few years your life can go from one end of the spectrum to another.  Friends you once knew, you know no more, and new friends are made along the way.  Then those friends who you once thought you’d probably not have the opportunity to see again suddenly make their way back into your life!  This was the case with Manjinder and Patrice.  You see, Manjinder (Manj for short) and I have know each other since elementary school.  We were in the same classes, we took the same bus home, hers being 3 stops before mine (yes I remember these things!).  We graduated from high school together, and that is where I am sad to say, our paths went separate ways!  That is of course until a little website called Facebook came about (you may have heard of Facebook, it’s kind of a big deal!).  As it happened, Facebook friends turned into a random phone call from Manj exclaiming “Hey Geoff!! Long time no talk, guess what!!! I’m getting married!”  After much planning and more than one change (only a few changes right Manj?) we were honored that Patrice and Manj had asked us to film their 3 day Indo/Chinese wedding!!!

From the word go, this wedding was incredible from the amazing ornate outfits that both Manj AND Patrice got to wear, to 3 days of wedding awesomeness in our hometown of Oliver, all the way back to Vancouver we did it all!  Indian food abounded till I could eat no more, and traditions that were so beautiful at the Buddhist temple on a crazy windy wet September day!

There was no way I could cram all the incredible things that happened at this wedding into one 5 minute highlight, it would be 20 minutes if I did, this was one of the hardest videos to edit because everything was just so great, I wanted to put it ALL in, but Manj and Pat will have to wait for their full feature, sorry guys ;p

Manj and Pat thank you so much for letting us join in your wedding, we felt like family so welcomed by both sides, and it felt more like we were your guests enjoying the day with you!  Thank You!

Oh by the way if you don’t get a little teary at Manj’s speech……….you have no soul!

Loved all the vendors we got to work with too: HyperFocus Photography, UBC Boathouse, Delovely Creative, Fairy Godmother Weddings, The Savory Chef, Floirire, and DJ X-Clusive

Okanagan Wedding Videographer | Heather + Jon

Believe it or not, I (Geoff) was not always in the wedding business, it’s true.  I did at one point work for a wonderful church in Ladner, BC as their youth pastor.  I started in 2004 as a youth intern, and that’s where I was first introduced to the wonderful Heather Babuin (along with her bridesmaids Liz, and Ashley).  They were youth at the time and I would tell them what to do (although they would argue otherwise).  I taught them the importance of yelling during dutch blitz, and I once made Heather lose her cool when I decided to be the green cards before she got to our house…she pouted, we laughed, she continued to lose BIG TIME, we laughed, then she started to get upset, so we let her be the green cards again (and laughed).

All that to say, we were VERY excited when we found out that the man of her dreams, Jon Mattei, had proposed to the dutch blitz queen Heather.  We LOVE IT when friends of ours get married, not only because we get to capture their day, BUT, and this is more Naomi’s thing, we’re invited to shake our groove thing on the dance floor and party like it’s 1997 (that was a good year!)

Heather and Jon couldn’t have asked for a better day to get married, or a more amazing location in the Okanagan.  It was hot, sunny, and amazingly beautiful on their special day, making everything all the more fantastic.

We love the story of how these two met, and we though we’d share that story in their video.

Abbotsford Family Photographer | The Shepit’s Part Deux

I think there should be some sort of prize for the Shepit’s as they are the most blogged family on our site!  First seen here, then here, and here, and then here, also here..and NOW once more, the beautiful family appears again!  Their little boy Eyan is now 6 months old, and with Christmas time around the corner, Alyne gave us a shout and we planned another Shepit family picture-rama.

We arrive at the park where we’re going to take the pictures, it’s the first of December, and yes it is chilly, but, Dean, Alyne, Livia and Eyan weren’t going to let a little chill in the air stop them from getting these pictures done. Determined, we pressed on, red noses and all!

Here are a few of our favorites!

Victoria Wedding Videographer | Tiffany + Scott

When you get an email that writes “We’re getting married at a castle…” You get a little bit excited, and by little bit I mean A LOT OF BIT. If I’m totally honest I had no idea that there was a castle located in British Columbia (for shame), but there is, and it’s only a ferry ride away. In the middle of Victoria at Royal Roads University is the beautifully amazing Hatley Castle, and the setting for the most amazing wedding of Tiffany and Scott.

We had such a great time at this wedding from our boat ride over, enjoying a bit of Victoria as our day didn’t start till 12pm with these two (thanks for that guys that was awesome) and then filming them on the best day of their lives.  This wedding was unique from head to toe.  From the castle garden wedding, to one of the most amazingly decorated receptions, a crazy huge ornately decorated cake, and even an open cigar bar, come on, that’s awesome!

Thank you Tiffany and Scott for letting us share in your day, we had such a great time with the two of you.

Here are their highlights!
