Okanagan/Vancouver Wedding Videographer | Manjinder + Patrice

I am always amazed how life has a funny ways of coming around.  How in just a few years your life can go from one end of the spectrum to another.  Friends you once knew, you know no more, and new friends are made along the way.  Then those friends who you once thought you’d probably not have the opportunity to see again suddenly make their way back into your life!  This was the case with Manjinder and Patrice.  You see, Manjinder (Manj for short) and I have know each other since elementary school.  We were in the same classes, we took the same bus home, hers being 3 stops before mine (yes I remember these things!).  We graduated from high school together, and that is where I am sad to say, our paths went separate ways!  That is of course until a little website called Facebook came about (you may have heard of Facebook, it’s kind of a big deal!).  As it happened, Facebook friends turned into a random phone call from Manj exclaiming “Hey Geoff!! Long time no talk, guess what!!! I’m getting married!”  After much planning and more than one change (only a few changes right Manj?) we were honored that Patrice and Manj had asked us to film their 3 day Indo/Chinese wedding!!!

From the word go this wedding was incredible from the amazing ornate outfits that both Manj AND Patrice got to wear, to 3 days of wedding awesomeness in our hometown of Oliver, all the way back to Vancouver we did it all!  Indian food abounded till I could eat no more, and traditions that were so beautiful at the Buddhist temple on a crazy windy wet September day!

There was no way I could cram all the incredible things that happened at this wedding into one 5 minute highlight, it would be 20 minutes if I did, this was one of the hardest videos to edit because everything was just so great, I wanted to put it ALL in, but Manj and Pat will have to wait for their full feature, sorry guys ;p

Manj and Pat thank you so much for letting us join in your wedding, we felt like family so welcome by both sides, and it felt more like we were your guests enjoying the day with you!  Thank You!

Oh by the way if you don’t get a little teary at Manj’s speech……….you have no soul!

Okanagan Wedding Videographer | Heather + Jon

Believe it or not, I (Geoff) was not always in the wedding business, it’s true.  I did at one point work for a wonderful church in Ladner, BC as their youth pastor.  I started in 2004 as a youth intern, and that’s where I was first introduced to the wonderful Heather Babuin (along with her bridesmaids Liz, and Ashley).  They were youth at the time and I would tell them what to do (although they would argue otherwise).  I taught them the importance of yelling during dutch blitz, and I once made Heather lose her cool when I decided to be the green cards before she got to our house…she pouted, we laughed, she continued to lose BIG TIME, we laughed, then she started to get upset, so we let her be the green cards again (and laughed).

All that to say, we were VERY excited when we found out that the man of her dreams, Jon Mattei, had proposed to the dutch blitz queen Heather.  We LOVE IT when friends of ours get married, not only because we get to capture their day, BUT, and this is more Naomi’s thing, we’re invited to shake our groove thing on the dance floor and party like it’s 1997 (that was a good year!)

Heather and Jon couldn’t have asked for a better day to get married, or a more amazing location in the Okanagan.  It was hot, sunny, and amazingly beautiful on their special day, making everything all the more fantastic.

We love the story of how these two met, and we though we’d share that story in their video.

Abbotsford Family Photographer | The Shepit’s Part Deux

I think there should be some sort of prize for the Shepit’s as they are the most blogged family on our site!  First seen here, then here, and here, and then here, also here..and NOW once more, the beautiful family appears again!  Their little boy Eyan is now 6 months old, and with Christmas time around the corner, Alyne gave us a shout and we planned another Shepit family picture-rama.

We arrive at the park where we’re going to take the pictures, it’s the first of December, and yes it is chilly, but, Dean, Alyne, Livia and Eyan weren’t going to let a little chill in the air stop them from getting these pictures done. Determined, we pressed on, red noses and all!

Here are a few of our favorites!

Victoria Wedding Videographer | Tiffany + Scott

When you get an email that writes “We’re getting married at a castle…” You get a little bit excited, and by little bit I mean A LOT OF BIT. If I’m totally honest I had no idea that there was a castle located in British Columbia (for shame), but there is, and it’s only a ferry ride away. In the middle of Victoria at Royal Roads University is the beautifully amazing Hatley Castle, and the setting for the most amazing wedding of Tiffany and Scott.

We had such a great time at this wedding from our boat ride over, enjoying a bit of Victoria as our day didn’t start till 12pm with these two (thanks for that guys that was awesome) and then filming them on the best day of their lives.  This wedding was unique from head to toe.  From the castle garden wedding, to one of the most amazingly decorated receptions, a crazy huge ornately decorated cake, and even an open cigar bar, come on, that’s awesome!

Thank you Tiffany and Scott for letting us share in your day, we had such a great time with the two of you.

Here are their highlights!

Vancouver Wedding Videography | Chris + Janet

This wedding was a gong show from beginning to end, and I mean gong show in a good way, as in Chris, Janet and their wedding party were a blast to hang out with, talk with, and laugh with.  There were parts of this wedding I was in tears I was laughing so hard (hard to film when you’re shaking FYI).

From their crazy wedding games, emotional speeches, and “special” slurpees, these guys were out of control.  Loved spending the day with them, and filming their day.

Chris and Janet were so generous and kind to us during their wedding, I can’t count how many times they came over to make sure we were eating, drinking and enjoying their day as much as the rest of their guests, like we had known them forever.  It was great!!

Here are some of their highlights.

Vancouver Portrait Photographer | Sophia + Sonney

The fun part about our job is we get to go to many different places to photograph and shoot amazing people.  A few years ago we had the privilege of photographing the wedding of Sonya and Nick in the Okanagan, so we were excited when we got a phone call from Sonya’s sister Sophia, asking us if we’d photograph her and Sonney’s wedding…….we were pumped.

So as we arranged plans for their wedding we were also arranging their engagement shoot.  Currently Sophia is a doctoral candidate in psychology at Pacific University in Portland, Oregon.  As she’s finishing up her schooling there, she wanted a memory of the city where she’s spent so much time, so we planned and I met up with Sonney and Sophia downtown Portland, the rain held off and we had a great time enjoying the “Weirdness” that is Portland.

We had a blast just walking around Portland, Sophia as our own personal tour guide, taking in the sights, sounds and yes, smells of the city who’s unofficial slogan is “Keep Portland Weird.”  I wish I could explain to you how much weird their is to be had in Portland, but I think you should just go there and see for yourselves, it’s a great place to spend a weekend!  Although, I wish I did spend the weekend there, but alas I drove there and back in one day…oh man, 10hrs in a car by myself…I learned from that trip that I need to be around people, that’s for sure!

Can’t wait for their wedding in May, these two are so much fun and we’re guaranteed an amazing time at their wedding!

Abbotsford Baby Photographer | Baby Annajane

WE LOVE IT WHEN FRIENDS HAVE BABIES!!! The best part is all our friends are in baby mode, so we get to see a lot of them, and that means more friends for our boy Kayden ;p

Jeremy and Candace are great friends of ours and when we heard they were pregnant with their second we were SO excited for them. Silas is their eldest and he’s already good buddies with our boy, and he’s teaching Kayden about all the important things in life like Thomas the Train, and Lightning McQueen. So let us introduce to you the newest member of the Postal family, Annajane weighing in at a whopping 5.10oz and cute as EVER! Jeremy and Candace are moving up to Whistler soon, so we’re trying to get as much time with them and their family as we can. Here are some snaps of this awesome family and their beautiful new addition.

Vancouver Wedding Videographer | Leo + Tracy

Our job as wedding videographers is really something else! We get to be a part of the most amazing day a couple can dream up to share with their family, friends and most importantly with each other.

We love our job. It allows us to experience a wedding like most people never get a chance to, with all the little details and moments; we get experience the day of and relive again when we edit the couples video. Emotions rise up during vows in person then again on our computer screen. It’s hard to put into words the gamut of feelings we go through when a truly amazing and intimate wedding comes along, and that is what Tracy and Leo’s wedding was for us.

I cried over this highlight video every time I played it through, and I’m not exaggerating. Tracy’s speech hit so close to home for me as my mom raised me on her own, much like Tracy did for her son Zach. Now having a son of my own as well…well you can only imagine the lump in my throat along with all of their guests as Tracy gave one of the most heartfelt, raw, loving and emotional speeches we’ve ever had the privilege of filming.

Tracy, Leo and Zack here is your day…

Thanks for letting us be apart of it!

Vancouver Portrait Photographer | Kyle + Danielle

January can’t come fast enough for me, why you may ask? Well the lovely lady and the handsome gentleman below are getting hitched then.  ANNNNDDDDD WHYYYYYY am I so excited about it, well let me tell you.  I get to be the best man at the wedding.  It’s true!! I’ve know Kyle for almost 11 years now, wow, it’s crazy to say that.  We’ve been through almost everything together, from whining and complaining about being single and not having a lady, to laughing at stupid movies we’ve admitted to watching when we were bored.  Kyle was best man at my wedding, and a darn good one at that.  Both Naomi and I were there when they “first met” and we love hanging out with these two whenever we can.  Danielle is the most caring, genuine, funny girl you could meet and a perfect “wife to be” for my buddy Kyle.  Okay enough with the bromance (I do love Kyle single tear).

So Naomi and I woke up Sunday morning to the sound of torrential down fall of rain.  Right away I text Danielle and Kyle and write something to the effect of “You guys still wanna hang out even if we can’t do the shoot?” Guh…I hate postponing shoots cause of weather.  However, about 2 hour before we were going to head out, the clouds started to part, the sun started to shine, it warmed up and we headed out to Granville Island to take some pictures.

These two are awesome, ice cream loving, book reading, movie watching, coffee drinking, silly laughing, best of friends, not only to each other but to Naomi and I.  We love these two!

Here are their pictures.

I also have been experimenting shooting actual, real, all manual, film cameras.  These next two shot were with my Pentax K1000 with Ilford 400 Black and White film…I am IN LOVE WITH FILM can’t wait to show you all more!

Some more film for you film lovers!

Kyle + Danielle Sneak Peek!

Well the time has finally come, some thought it would NEVER come, some thought it wasn’t possible.  But I knew, yes I KNEW that my best friend, the one the only, Kyle Stewart, would one day meet a beautiful lady that would leave him speechless (which isn’t saying much because he barely talks to begin with).

I would love to tell you more about Kyle and his wonderfully charming fiance Danielle, but we’ll leave that for their full blog post.

Although we are not shooting their wedding in anyway as I’m the BEST MAN what what!!) we were privileged enough to snap a few pics for their “save the date” invitations…

Here is just a sneak peek…

For all you photo geeks out there, this picture was taken without a tilt shift and with out editing in Photoshop, any guesses how it was done (Rhys Albrecht isn’t allowed to answer ;P)
