9 months later….

So it’s true…yes it is…I know…WE HAD A BABY!!! SO AMAZING! HE’S INCREDIBLE, WONDERFUL, AMAZING, CUTE, and THE BESTEST THING EVER…alright enough with that caps…

On Wednesday at 11:25am Naomi and I became the EXTREMELY (Ok lied about that caps) proud parents of a 6lb 10oz baby boy named Kayden Richard Heith.

JKB_7633e

This picture was taken by the most wonderful Jillian Kirby of Jillian Kirby Baby…2 hrs after he was born…look at him is he SOOOOOOOOOOO CUTE!

Anyways, all that to say we are learning to be parents, trying to settle into our new crazy responsibilities, and just trying to get by on what little sleep we’re getting currently.  So this last little bit the blog and us may seem a little distant, but really we’re not being lazy…we’re just hanging out with our fantastic new little puking, smiling, pooping, baby smell nice, cuddly, warm, crying, awesome little guy…oh and trying to sleep…and then trying to rest, and sleep…and feed, and change diapers, and feed…and then feed some more…haha…

We will return to regular blog posting soon, we actually have some totally off the hook videos coming up as well as some great photo sessions we’ve done…so hopefully fingers crossed next week things shall resume to somewhat normal.

But for now we leave you with a little project Naomi and I undertook to take a picture of her belly every day during her pregnancy…BUT…we totally FAILED…so rather than having approximately 270 pictures (9 months) we only have about 70…booooo to us…but the video still came our pretty fun…

We’re definately going to do this with our next kids, but we’re going to be way more disciplined in our picture taking, more creative with how we stage it, and hopefully put out a video that will blow your mind…but you have to wait at least 2 more years for that hahahahaha…

Anywho here it is…9 months…in a minute and a half!

Kelowna Wedding Videographer | Melody + Dustin

When I go to the Okanagan it’s like coming home in a way, I grew up in the south Okanagan in a little town called Oliver, also known as the Wine Capital of Canada thank you very much!  So whenever we get a chance to go there for any reason I get excited, the weather, the lakes, the people, yep I like it all.

So when we get to a wedding while we’re down there, life really doesn’t get any better…

We met Dustin and Melody a little last minute…if you consider three days before their wedding a little last minute haha, but it was all worth it because we were so blessed to meet these two and be a part of their day.  They both have such a gentle loving spirit about them and their whole day was full of emotion, crazy weather (sun, rain, wind, rain, sun, clouds, rain, sun…??) and two great people committing themselves to each other.

The wedding took place at the beautiful Guichigan House followed by an amazing reception there as well, what a great location!  We also had the awesome privilege to work with an amazing Kelowna photographer Rhys Albrecht … you can check out his take on the day here so good.

Pay close attention to Dustin’s brother speech at the end of their video…it’s the reason we do what we do…we love weddings, we love marriage, we love people!

Kitsilano Engagement Photography | Lael + Ricci

You know what I love…photography…you know what I love almost as much as photography…people with accents…so when we get to photograph people with accents, my day is made!  Lael is from the land down under and Ricci is from South Africa (however he’s a hardcore Vancouverite…he’ll tell you this is the best place on earth!).

They were such a great couple, all smiles and laughs, totally ready to do whatever we asked, and so natural in their love for each other.  We decided to do their shoot in Kitsilano right on the beach, literally a stones throw from their place.  The sun was setting, the weather was hot and we were ready for a great shoot.

At the end of the night Ricci asked “Can I get some pictures with my dog Chloe?” Us “Heck yes you can!” So out came their 9 year old chocolate lab with personality to boot…what a great way to finish our night.

Here are their highlights!

A walk down memory lane…

Last night, before we went to bed I walk into the bedroom and Naomi has pulled out our “Geomi Memory Box.”

picture4

What is that you may ask, well, let me tell you.  It’s a small box I made for Naomi when we were dating to keep all the wonderful letters, cards, gifts etc that I gave her while we were in dating/engaged mode…

The fun thing is she has litterally kept everything I gave to her (I kept everything she gave me too…thank you very much).  She even has our little Hawaiian leis from the night we met…before we were even dating…like holy cow!

Anyways we spent a good little while going through the different things that we had written each other, sent each other, and well anything else…we had a good laugh and a lot of awwww moments….

One of the funniest things we found was something we did just for fun.

Naomi’s dad owns a kayak shop up in Port Hardy and in that shop he has these little jade necklaces and sculptures that never sell…so we stole 2 (sorry Pat) … the challenge was then to write a story in a card about the figurine that you were giving to the other person…and mail it to them (we dated and were engaged long distance FOREVER!!!)

picture3

This is the necklace I chose for Naomi…

picture2

And here is her story as written in the card I gave her…

Once, long ago, there lived a woman named Olgaka.  She was beloved by all and was an expert basket weaver.

One day, as she was walking through the forest collecting bark with which she would make her famous baskets, she was all of a sudden struck by something from behind.

Almost knocked out and dizzy from the first blow, she turned to only see a blurred image of a man.  When she came tom she was in pain, her head hurt, and when she looked at her arm, it looked as if someone had taken a bite out of her arm.

She stumbled home the pain ever increasing.  Eventually the paint to great she passed out again, just outside the village.  When she awoke everyone was eaten, blood dripping from her hands and face and then she realized that she was a ZOMBIE!

Thus the saying, “Never cross a basket weaver or they’ll eat you!!”

The End

Who says romance is dead…but come on you can’t tell me that necklace doesn’t look like a zombie!

Granville Island Engagement Shoot | Vanessa + Vishal

Rain Rain Go Away come again when we don’t have a shoot to do…and that it did…thanks rain!

Funny story, Vanessa has never been to Granville Island…yep it’s true, she lives in Surrey and has never been there, so why not take in the sites and get a photoshoot in too…pretty awesome I say!

When we first got started Vanessa was working it as beautiful ladies know how…and Vishal…well, he needed a few warm up shots, and ladies and gentlemen, he warmed up just fine (yes Vishal you did great)…

Vanessa and Vishal were so much fun, yes they had spectators most everywhere we went, yes they had to kiss in public, and yes they did it all like champs!  Vanessa’s eyes are to die for so HOT, and Vishal was the man sporting his first cardigan and new Adidas kicks…love it!

Quick tip gentlemen…your ladies make you look good…so just go with the flow and enjoy every moment you get!

So here are their highlights! Comments always welcome! Enjoy :)

Abbotsford Wedding Photographer | Jon + Alycia

If you recall from Jon and Alycia’s engagement shoot…Jon is the guy who bid on our photography package at a silent auction before he had even asked Alycia to marry him…HOW AWESOME IS THAT!  Well their day finally came and it was just as incredible as Jon and Alycia are!  Their day was filled of so many great things, from Jon’s pride and joy…a very finky, fast, right hand side driven fine tuned piece of machinery that needed to be always started with a battery charge…to a mid photoshoot break to get some sushi (which one of the bridesmaids claimed to be the most amazing in the world…it was good…but not the best! Haha!)

If you could use one word to summarize Jon and Alycia it would be “Chill” … well that was my (Geoff) favorite word for the day so I had to write it.  They made our life easy, they’re in love, they’re fun and we were so lucky to be a part of their wedding.

Here are their highlights ;P What do you think…let us know below!

Trash the Dress | Dan + Bekah

We posted a little while ago on our friend Facebook that we wanted a bride who was willing to get a little down and dirty…we had a few come saying “Well how dirty?” annnnnndddd thhhhhennnnn…we had Bek come to us and say “How dirty can I get?” YES! That’s exactly the response we were looking for. (To our other brides who asked how dirty…don’t worry we still love you dearly and understand ;) )

So let me take some time to tell you a little bit about Dan and Bek.  They have been married for 10 years now.  Naomi has actually known Dan since she was in diapers, they both grew up in the same small wonderful town of Port Hardy, went to the same church, same school, and their parents were good buds (they all actually still get together every thanksgiving 5 families in total plus multiplication ie. marriages, kids, grandkids etc…it’s quite an event and good time).  Dan and Bek have 2 kids Riley and Emma who are cute and funny as anything that is cute and funny.

A few years ago Dan and Bek planted a church in Mission called “The Cross Current.” It’s not your ordinary church, they actually consider themselves a church for people who don’t like church…it’s pretty awesome.  They meet at Silver City in Mission in a theatre (cool), they cover topics most churches won’t touch (amazing) and they’re impacting the community of Mission by living like they have a changed life and something to offer other people (my kinda people)!

All that to say they’re a couple we love and admire for who they are and what they do.  So when Bek said let’s have at’er we said SURE!

Ladies and gentlemen, what we think is a pretty fantastic way to celebrate your 10 year anniversary, I give you Trash the Dress!

Salt Spring Wedding | Stephen and Katie

The one thing I love about living in British Columbia is that there are so many wonderfully amazing places to go and see, and to see all of them would take a lifetime in itself I’m sure…no really…A LIFETIME! I loved (and still love) the whole “You Gotta Be Here” campaign put on by B.C. during the Olympics and still now…makes me wanna get out and see more of our beautiful province! One of the places we’ve (correction I’ve never been…Naomi has) never been believe it or not is Salt Spring Island…and it did not disappoint!

Even better than heading over to Salt Spring to check er’ out was that we got to go over with friends, and even more awesome than that was that we got to photograph a wedding for friends.

Stephen (aka Sevio) and Katie met on Salt Spring Island…both lifers there…they’ve known each other since days of yore.  Stephen is the youth pastor at their church on Salt Spring so as you can guess it was a big to-do for the church, and well like I said they’re both Salt Spring lifers, so everyone who was anyone was at their wedding!

It was a beautifully sunny day with the wedding and the reception being outside at Stephens’ moms place set on acreage of fine living, their wedding photos done at Ruckle Park…everything was perfect…we like Salt Spring (although we heard from our father in law and a wedding guest that the fish and chips are over priced…wad up with the high price of fish Salt Spring??)

Vancouver Wedding Videographer | Kelly + Kyle

One of the hardest jobs we have when we’re editing a film is to find music that correctly captures the emotion of the day, the passion of the couple, and the feel of the video we shoot. Believe it or not each couple is different (I know shocker) and you’d think by now you’d come across a wedding or two that are the same, but they never are nor will they ever be…so setting the mood for a video is key to everything we do, we never start editing until we’ve found “the” song for a particular couple and sometimes that can be the most frustrating/rewarding part of our time preparing.

All that to say is that we went a different route this time with Kelly and Kyle. Their day was full of so much emotion, style, and amazing moments that finding the right melody to bring out all of that was not an easy task. You had moments where Kelly wrote a letter to her future husband 13 years before this day, the history of Kyle’s family the May’s having lived in Richmond for over 100 years, and even taking the time to visit Kyle’s grandpa who couldn’t be at the wedding due to health, like wow, so many amazing memories and moments that make you sit back and really want to soak in everything that was their wedding day.

We love the couples we get to work with and we hope you can feel like you were there with them as you watch their day…

Enjoy ;)

PS on a side note if you’re ever drinking an ice cold class of Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice…you can thank Kyle and his family…they harvest the berries you’re enjoying…mmmmm..mmmm!
